Current Event 4

Stomach problems led to whale shark's death. Ralph, a whale shark, died on January 12 because of stomach pains. Ralph's problems started last year when he started to lose his appetite after a series of treatments used to suppress a parasitic leech. After several treatments, the appetite of Ralph declined, and he eventually stopped eating. The whale shark was given therapeutic food, liquids and medicine, their water was monitered, and how they treated the leeches was changed. Ralph's death was the second of a popular exhibit at an aquarium. If you want to learn more about this, go to http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/science/03/28/whale.shark.death.ap/index.html
